There’s plenty to see when it comes to Glasgow shopping. The city centre boasts one of the largest shopping areas outside of London, with fashion the focus of the ‘Style Mile’ in around Buchanan Street, Argyle Street and Merchant City. Clothing, jewellery and beauty are all extremely well catered for by big brands and independent retailers.
It also includes St Enoch Centre, the largest shopping centre in Scotland, and the newer Buchanan Galleries. For a more historic shopping experience, the Argyll Arcade was originally built in 1827, and with more than 30 jewellers and diamond merchants, it’s the perfect setting to buy something sparkly.
If you fancy something different, take a detour into the West End of Glasgow for vintage, boutique and specialist shops. It’s the place to find traditional book shops, records, and also experience the mix of The Barras market which combines old-style traders and new creative types in one setting.
Further afield are The Forge, Silverburn, Glasgow Fort and intu Braehead shopping centres. Soar at Intu Braehead leisure centre includes the UK’s largest indoor real snow slope and highest indoor freestanding climbing wall when you need a break from the shopping.
