From the people behind the hugely popular Glad Cafe, handily situated right next door, Glad Rags is a not-for-profit thrift shop which sells a lovingly curated selection of secondhand clothes, bric-a-brac and vinyl.
A shabby chic, DIY style pervades in the shop, with items displayed on wooden shelves, draped over cases, hung up on walls and styled on mannequins. As in any good vintage shop, the joy is in rifling through rails of goodies to find that gem that you simply just need. The importance of music to the Glad Foundation (a charity to enable children who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to get into music, and to which all profits from both the cafe and Glad Rags go) is as evident here as it is in the venue next door, with stacks of vinyl to peruse. Regular events are held in the shop, which fills a previously gaping vintage hole in Glasgow’s southside.
