Dundee’s nightlife, especially for those of a certain age, is dominated by two words – the union. Dundee University’s Student Union is no ‘converted living room with a pool table’ set-up; it’s a multi-bar, multi-floor student palace, with not one but two nightclubs. Similarly student-minded, Underground features a mixed music policy, as well as decent prices at the bar.

Dundee’s clubs aren’t all the same though, with a clutch of venues catering to less mainstream tastes. Kage is the best place to get your fix of metal and rock in Dundee, acting as a second home to the city’s alternative music fans, and The Reading Rooms showcases DJ talent from across Scotland and beyond on an eclectic roster of club nights.
