Mention sport in Dundee, and you’ll be bombarded with the pub quiz fact that Dundee’s two professional football teams have the closest non-adjoining football stadiums in the world. However, the city’s sports, fitness and leisure facilities have plenty to offer besides matchday traffic jams and friendly local rivalry.
There are a host of gyms in Dundee, from a 24-hour PureGym to a range of council-run facilities across the length and breadth of the city. Swimmers are well catered for by the Olympia pool down by the city’s waterfront, while water of the frozen variety can be found at Dundee Ice Arena.
More left-field pursuits can also be found in Dundee’s leisure venues. Bubble Soccer Scotland allowing you to run around with a giant balloon on your head causing merry mayhem, Factory Skatepark setting out a vast indoor playground for Dundee skaters and BMXers, and Avertical World’s indoor climbing wall offering the chance to climb to the skies. Well, to the roof at least.
