Tomillo have been bringing their brand of high-quality vegan cooking to homes lucky enough to be in the city centre/West End catchment area for their UberEats drivers since the beginning of 2018. Now taking up residency in Ocho on Speirs Wharf on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, they are casting the net wider and cooking up meat-free deliciousness that everyone can enjoy.
The menu is good from start to finish, with a section of small plates to mix and match from and a list of full-size main courses for more territorial diners. Mains include burgers, spicy ramen bowls heaped with fresh, nutritious ingredients and a seriously memorable crispy tofu katsu curry, with most main courses coming in at around £10. Daily specials give you an indication of possible menu changes to come, and of the chef’s culinary prowess. The drinks are vegan too and includes a changing list of cocktails, featuring a mix of classics and in-house creations.
It is easy to imagine Tomillo in their own premises at some point soon, but for now the canalside location is cool and offers diners good views of both the waterfront and much of the city from an elevated position.
Every year, The Skinny holds a Food & Drink Survey, where we give you the opportunity to vote for the best restaurants, pubs and cafes in town. Tomillo earned a spot in our 2019 survey, getting a podium place in two categories, Best Vegetarian and Vegan and Best Lunch and Dinner.
