The George Orwell literary pub, formally known as Clancy’s Irish Bar, is named after famous literary figure George Orwell and is situated in Dundee’s popular West End. The pub is a popular mid-way stop off point and watering hole that is part of the unofficial Perth Road pub crawl, serving a variety of craft beers and spirits.

Popular with students, creatives and like-minded people who enjoy ‘a good tipple’, while being introduced to new music and a broad selection of drinks, which are locally and globally sourced by the knowledgeable Mark Usher, who previously owned top London nightclub, Fabric.

Whether it’s finding the ‘perfect serve’ for your favourite gin, a new mixer or to sample some of the many different brands of tequila, The George Orwell caters to all. The bar plays host to some great live music, including a weekly open mic night, as well as hosting games nights, quizzes and DJ sets.

The bar is dimly lit but atmospheric; smart but casual, and full to the brim with character. The bar is within ideal walking distance from the town centre and equally placed between other bars and stop off points along the way.
