Fantoosh Fish

This West-End Fishmongers is not for the faint of heart – the sight and smell of the shop’s vast selection of freshly-caught West Coast sea-critters, splayed over the counter in raw quantities and covered in ice, is almost overwhelming. Originally based in Milgavnie, Fantoosh Fish expanded into Glasgow’s West-End in the latter half of 2011, bringing with it an impossible amount of enthusiasm and expertise. In terms of what’s on offer, expect everything – salmon, halibut, rainbow trout, scallops, lobsters, cod, mackerel, herring... everything. Particularly exciting is Fridays, when you can expect fresh handmade sushi courtesy of Aye Sushi, available in both fish and vegetable variations (although consider booking ahead for this – it’s that popular). If this isn’t enough, the shop also do a selection of freshly-caught game, including duck and pheasant.

Certainly not the cheapest place to get your dinner in Glasgow, but definitely among the freshest. If you really like your fish, you should consider checking in with the company’s online presence.
