Street Level Photoworks in the Trongate is a gallery devoted to photography and lens-based media. Marking its 25th anniversary in 2014, it's made a solid contribution to the Glasgow arts scene since photography started becoming a hobby more available to the mainstream. The spacious white rooms that make up the gallery can be accessed from two entrances, either on King Street or Argyll Street, and so allow two contrasting approaches to each showcase. Street Level Photoworks offer an exhibition programme by a diverse range of photographers, as well as talks and events relating to current projects. The gallery promotes photography not just through exhibitions but also by means of residencies, commissions and publications. They encourage visitors not only to appreciate this artform but also to get involved in it through the provision of courses and facilities that are aimed at anyone from beginners to the more experienced. They also stock a large range of contemporary photography magazines which can all be purchased from the gallery.
