In Clifford Odets' classic American play Golden Boy, the gifted young violinist Joe Bonaparte is lured away from his dreams of music and into the brutal world of professional boxing at the height of the Great Depression. In a new revival of the play, Josh O'Connor (Challengers, La Chimera, Wake Up Dead Man) stars as Bonaparte, with a live string quartet soundtracking his pugilistic journey into the darkness and greed of 1930s New York.
Now National Theatre Live are bringing Golden Boy to cinemas across the UK from 5 November, giving audiences around the country the chance to see the critically-acclaimed show. Filmed live from the Almeida Theatre in London, Sam Yates directs a cast including O'Connor and BAFTA nominees Hayley Squires and Daniel Mays – find your nearest screening at ntlive.com/plays/golden-boy
