Islington Mill

A former cotton spinning mill converted into a gallery space and venue, with over 50 artist studios available to rent, Islington Mill is recognised as one of the city's most exciting creative spaces. The gig venue has been home to shows by Alt-J, Grimes and Everything Everything in past years, and it's also become the central location for the yearly Sounds From The Other City Festival. The mill is a prime location for clubs nights like nothing you'd find in the city centre, and has held some pretty momentous nights in years gone by. The Mill is non-judgemental and forever experimental inside a totally DIY environment. It provides studio space for local artists to rent and work in, as well as plenty of one-off spaces for photoshoots, exhibitions and filming. There's also regular classes available, including drawing, screenprinting and zine making, while the Mill has also collaborated with organisations such as the University of Salford and FutureEverything. [Charlotte Davies]
