Tucked away under a railway arch in Salford is the First Chop Brewing Arm. This special part of Salford is home to craft ale brewers by day and live music and DJs by night. Since opening in 2012 the team behind First Chop Brewing Arm have created 22 beers, most of which are stocked in pubs and bars in Manchester, as well as various places across the North West, including it’s own First Chop pub in Ramsbottom. Their award winning beers are best tried at their home though, where you can drink them while watching some upcoming musical talent. Previous acts to have played at First Chop are Lapsley, The Wave Pictures and Jesca Hoop, and part of Sounds From The Other City Festival has taken place here over the last couple of years. You can also catch DJs such as Mr Scruff here on occasion, and it’s worth checking out one of their semi-regular socials. It’s got a secret garden too, where you can try out pop-up street food stalls so you don’t even have to leave if you get peckish.

First Chop was named one of the favourite local beers in the North West in The Skinny Food and Drink Survey 2015. Check out the other winners as voted for by The Skinny readers, and read more about the survey's favourite local beers and pubs
