Located on the corner of the historic Bexley Square in Salford is Deli-Lama, a deli, cafe and bar. Serving up mainly vegetarian and vegan food, Deli-Lama’s menu is heavily Caribbean and Mediterranean inspired and the staff aim to source all of their ingredients locally. With regular menu staples of wraps, sandwiches and curries, they also serve a number of specials, and plenty of cakes. Having recently gained an alcohol licence, the cafe doubles up as a bar on some evenings. The Deli-Lama is community focused, and encourages local artists to exhibit on its walls. They also have a weekly open mic night to promote local aspiring musicians, and the cafe has been used as part of Salford’s Sounds From The Other City Festival. On occasion the cafe will be used for presentations and evening classes, with guitar tuition being held in the past. The staff also have plans to open a proper delicatessen store to sell products by local suppliers. [Charlotte Davies]
