If you thought the chain coffee shops that dominate the high street had the monopoly on speciality coffee then you clearly haven’t visited Montgomery’s Coffee House on Radnor Street. Here you can enjoy coffee that isn’t flavoured with syrup, but is instead made with flavoured beans. The menu includes such wonders as the coconut cappuccino, almonspresso and nutellalatte. Tea lovers can also get in on the action with the ingeniously named London Fog-Earl Grey mixed with vanilla syrup and steamed milk. Housed in a traditional West End building of high ceilings and lavish cornice work – brightened by purple and blue paint – many a patron spends much of their first visit staring skywards at the world map sprawled across the ceiling. Additionally, Montgomery’s bake their bread in house and the lunch menu includes toasties, paninis and bagels as well as two homemade soups of the days. There’s even a kids men on offer with a clause that any adults caught eating from it will receive a wedgie. We didn't even make that bit up.
