Glasgow Women's Library

The Glasgow Women’s Library is a community-driven gem making a name for itself as a go-to for ground-breaking events and exhibitions exploring the lives, experiences, history and achievements of women. You’d be hard pushed to find a day when there isn’t something on as the calendar is jam packed with an impressive array of free events, projects and exhibitions covering a dizzying amount of topics. 

Walking tours, film screenings, readings and hands-on workshops address a wide range of issues such as coping with violence and poverty, with the intent to empower and support women through education, addressing inequalities and promoting diversity and inclusivity. The library also holds an amazing range of historical artefacts, from suffragette memorabilia to contemporary and indisputably bad-ass roller derby gear. 

The lending library itself is a lovingly curated hive of information, with feminist classics and rare finds jostling for space. Every book has been donated by library supporters over twenty two years, a testament to the popularity of the library from its beginnings as an unfunded grass-roots project in 1991.
