Cask

Cask is an unpretentious and friendly haunt, ideal for beer-lovers. Their list of libations should be taken as a suggestion - not a challenge! - as there’s three fridges full of the darned things, as well as several changing offerings on tap. There’s a strong focus on Europe here, though the trendy Amercian craft beer scene certainly hasn’t passed these folks by. If you’re unsure, make sure to ask - the friendly bar staff are what keeps many coming back here time and again. Adding to the atmosphere is an excellent jukebox, as well as the characterful beer garden (of sorts), with seating created from old beer barrels. The best bit about Cask though? Its BYOC policy. That’s Bring Your Own Chips, for those not in the know. The chippy next door is ideally located and staff are happy for you to eat your tea alongside your pint of Schneider Weisse.  As long as you put your wrappers in the bin, that is. [Anna Tully]
