Find the biggest gigs and best live music in Leeds, a city which has a fine musical history from influential 70s punks Gang of Four and indie favourites The Wedding Present right through to Alt-J, who formed at Leeds University in 2007.

With world-famous established bands and artists playing at the First Direct Arena, O2 Academy and Roundhay Park, plus the annual Leeds Festival, there’s no shortage of big acts. You’ll be able to find the best music events in our listings, alongside the places to find new and unsigned acts.

For indie and rock there are a wealth of venues including the Brudenell Social Club and Belgrave Music Hall. But Leeds gigs cover every taste and genre, from jazz and blues (Smokestack, The Duck and Drake, Seven Arts and more), to funk at The Wardrobe or Irish folk at O’Neills.

And that’s before considering the wide range of Student Union venues, including Stylus and Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, plus university district favourites including The Faversham and The Fenton.

Even the closure of The Cockpit after 20 years immediately led to the launch of The Key Club which focuses on punk, rock and metal, showing that live music in Leeds continues to grow and evolve.
