If you’re in need of a laugh, check out our listings of Leeds standup and comedy clubs. There are often comedy performances at the larger, multi-purpose venues including Leeds First Direct Arena, along with regular comedy nights at smaller, more intimate locations.
Belgrave Music Hall hosts the great Sitting Room Comedy club, while over the summer months you can catch some of the North’s rising comedy stars at Verve bar, as they preview their Edinburgh Fringe material before heading up to the world’s biggest arts festival.
The Comedy Sessions, at The HiFi Club, has been showcasing future comedy stars since 2001, and Leeds’ longest running comedy night, House of Fun, has a similar legacy of new and established names, having hosted the likes of Joe Lycett and Katherine Ryan. You’ll find House of Fun in the relaxed environment of The Wardrobe, Quarry Hill.
Leeds also has the Kill for a Seat Comedy Club, which regularly hosts nights at Seven Arts in Chapel Allerton. And while many prefer to avoid the stag- and hen-friendly comedy clubs, if you fancy a big night out there’s always Jongleurs Leeds, which has survived the closure of its previous venue to relocate to Tiger Tiger, and Manford’s Comedy Club at The Bierkeller.
Finally, look out for the annual Laugh in Leeds comedy festival, which marks the beginning of Edinburgh preview season for some of the country’s best standup and sketch comedians.
With such a range of names and venues, there’s something happening all the time, which is where The Skinny comes in: we can help you find the latest names to be announced and the best venues.
