Kelvingrove Bandstand

Can you think of a more picturesque setting for an outdoor venue than Kelvingrove Park? Nope, didn’t think so. Luckily, it exists, in the form of the newly refurbished Kelvingrove Bandstand. There’s been an amphitheatre on this site since 1924, and the bandstand at Kelvingrove is now the only original one left in the city. With plenty of use throughout the 2014 Commonwealth Games – including gigs from high profile bands such as Belle and Sebastian, and Teenage Fanclub – it looks set to be a well-used live music and theatre venue, with capacity for up to 2300 people. Spectators might get wet, but at least performers will stay dry under the beautifully restored bandstand building, complete with ornate tiling, decorative railings and a top notch sound system.
