Mr Wu's Disco Kitchen

After months of teasing Shawlands residents with clues, the enigmatic Mr Wu’s Disco Kitchen finally opened its doors on Kilmarnock Road in early 2019.

This Asian fusion restaurant is seriously cool, with a menu of inventive bold flavours and an evening programme of DJs and live music that practically switches the place up into a nightclub on weekend evenings. The food is properly delicious, full of really memorably good stuff like sticky hoi sin ribs, ramen bowls, slow-cooked pork belly and chicken katsu burgers. Also, the katsu topped fries are amazing – to be honest, we could go on forever.

They do buy one get one free food deals on Tuesday evenings for the time being so get down for great food on the cheap while you still can, as this place has been a fast favourite with locals. Or if you're in more of the party spirit, head down on Friday and Saturday nights from 8pm onwards, where DJs you might have heard before at La Cheetah Club can be spotted spinning records at the back of the dimly lit stylish room.
