The long-standing Indian restaurant specialises in Punjabi cooking, with a focus on chicken dishes, parathas, and a wealth of other specialities including the rather amaing Bhuna Lamb. The name translates loosely as ‘Mountain of Light’, and refers to a 105 carat diamond mined in India, which would later end up a part of the British Crown Jewels.

The restaurant lives up well to its decadent moniker. The interior decoration is among the most luxurious you’ll find in Glasgow’s vast community of Indian restaurants, with practically every space adorned with hanging rugs, Indian imagery and other Persian touches. It all makes for a very pleasant dining environment, albeit not one for the minimalists. Skinny recommended dishes include the Allu Tiki for starters (delicious, homemade potato fritters), and the Nashilee Chicken for main – a beautiful chicken tikka dish cooked with a touch of brandy.
