Lurking at the ‘other’ end of Byres Road, student hangout The Faktory has ditched that errant 'k' and morphed into the more grown-up The Record Factory.

Hoping to establish itself as the West End’s premier indie music venue and capture the crowds who would otherwise be staggering into town, this bar, club and music venue has vintage record covers adorning the walls, for the discerning music lover. And for the discerning burger muncher, the kitchen is controlled by Meat Hammer of Nice 'n' Sleazy, adding some kudos to a menu comprised of the usual pub grub – burgers, pizzas, fajitas and nachos.

The venue is also known to have hosted aftershows for bands playing in the city, from the Palma Violets to Deap Vally – even Noel Gallagher's stopped by. The club adheres strictly to its policy of rock'n'roll, soul, indie and blues, which is pretty nice if you're looking to avoid the monotony of the crowd-appeaser playlists. They've also planned ahead for punters looking to amuse themselves by day, with a pool table, movie screenings, food served from noon and the West End's biggest summer beer garden (apparently). Oh, and not to forget their collection of board games – no music venue is complete without the board games.
