Proud Mary is a cool addition to the city centre's alternative line up, with a late night bar and restaurant upstairs which serves into the wee hours, and a 'Ping Pong Ballroom' downstairs with six tables. You can recruit your pals to hash it out over a mini tournament of your own concoction, with optional table service to ensure stamina: it's a marathon, not a sprint.
It's deceptively spacious, with two floors and a beer garden, for those 'taps aff' days we occasionally see in the fickle season of summer. The set up is great for DJ Sets, with a dance floor, cloakroom and second bar downstairs. It feels like a house party, made cooler by the Metallica themed pingball machine, a huge whiteboard and markers for scribbling and the fact that everything is separated by mesh caging.
