This attractive Thai street food restaurant took permanent residency near Bristo Square after a successful summer spent fighting off hoards of hungry punters on the hunt for Thai food.
When Ting Thai reopened, most of Edinburgh rejoiced heartily, yet some cynics kept a judgey distance. They thought we’d tire of the cheap, sumptuous Thai food, the smiley service with lovely haircuts, the oddly endearing communal dining style, the utilitarian cardboard food boxes. But we didn’t tire, and we shan’t.
It goes without saying then that Ting Thai was a firm favourite within The Skinny's 2018 Food and Drink Survey. It struck gold in the category of Best Restaurant, along with the likes of Harmonium, Trenchtown and Glasgow's Alchemilla.
