The V&A Dundee is the first design museum to be built in Scotland and the only other V&A museum in the world outside of London, located a mere stone’s throw away from Dundee's city centre and the newly opened railway station. The V&A is a striking piece of architecture and a grand design in its own right. Housed on the city’s waterfront, the building, designed by Kengo Kuma, is made of natural wood panels inside and it was made to harmonise beautifully with its surroundings as it overlooks the Tay towards Fife.

The museum houses a main collection, as well as playing host to travelling exhibitions and a full reconstruction of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh tearoom, which was last used in the 1950s. The main collection is made up of Scottish design artefacts, as well as items which are on loan from other archives, and aims to highlight how design informs all aspects of our daily lives, from town planning to fashion and gaming.

The V&A is wheelchair accessible and free to visit for all, and it has some great facilities including a design trail, an inspiration area, picnic room and gift shop. It also has a café downstairs called The Living Room for tea, coffee and light refreshments, as well as a fine dining area upstairs known as the Tatha Bar and Kitchen.
