The Magnet, Liverpool, is one of the city's oldest music venues. Over the years it's been one of the most important gig venues on the Liverpool music scene and founded in 1958, it's had its fair share of famous faces perform there over the years — including Freddie Mercury, Peter Wylie and Gregory Isaacs.
As well as being one of the city's favourite watering holes, you can expect some of the best gigs and club nights in Liverpool at the Magnet — both from up and coming artists from around the local area and the rest of the UK. The Magnet has always been a melting pot for different musical genres but you can expect a soundtrack of Northern Soul, disco and funk at its core. If you like The Kazimier, the Zanzibar Club or Studio 2, the Magnet will be your kind of music venue.
Every weekend, the downstairs of the Magnet is transformed into Liverpool Comedy Cellar — a small and intimate comedy club that hosts the best of local and national talent.
Keep an eye on our listings for the latest gigs at the Magnet and other bars and clubs in Liverpool. The nearest station to the Magnet is Liverpool Lime Street, which is just a five minute walk away. [Laura Maclean]
