Mackintosh Church

The Mackintosh Church - also known as Queen's Cross Church - is probably Glasgow's greatest hidden gem. A bold statement, yes, but this is the only church in the world to have been designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. A short(ish) stroll from the city centre, the church sits at Queen's Cross in Maryhill,on the corner of Garscube Road and Maryhill Road - although you might not realise it's a church fromthe outside, as it lacks a looming spire. But look closely and you'll see signature Mackintosh touches, which are all the more evident inside, where the interior is awe-inspiring in its simplicity. The church holds a whole host of musical recitals and other special events, and you can get guided tours by enthusiastic guides. There's even a wee shop if you fancy stocking up on the ubiquitous Mackintosh rose merch.
