The Counting House offer a series of private function rooms located above the Peartree (everyone's got a pal who had a 21st ceilidh party there, right?), boasting traditional 18th century splendor across a lounge, grand ballroom (complete with a huge domen glass ceiling) and, of course, a bar. A well-stocked bar, at that.
The space allows for up to 160 guests, and caters for a range of different events including weddings, the afore-mentioned ceilidhs, and private parties. Additionally, the ballroom space is used during week nights for a selection of dance lessons from tango to swing and bop.
There's often also a smidgen of live stuff here and there taking place, be it improv comedy, live music or Hogmanay celebratinions. And, naturally, come August, Counting House is host to the Free Fringe and Edinburgh Comedy Festival. Perfect for catching a dram of afternoon theatre and mulling it all over with a cider in the Peartree's beer garden. Divine.
