Volta

Whilst you may be forgiven for thinking that the concept behind Volta lies in the Italian for ‘turn’ - as in a turn in thought (of course that’s what we were thinking!) - call forth your Italian physicists knowledge and you’ll be closer to home. Not wanting to stray too far from their Electrik routes (that’s Luke and Justin’s – aka The Unabombers – first establishment in Chorlton), Volta is indeed named after the inventor of the battery. Whilst their new ‘neighbourhood eaterie and bar’ may not be as revolutionary as Alessandro was back in the 1800s, the idea is to create a chilled-out atmosphere with great grub and booze. The food menu focuses on small plates, meats and cheeses and a carefully chosen chargrill section. There’s a decent selection of drinks, including ales on draft and even Volta’s very own bottle aged Negroni. Salute! [Anna Tully]
