The Lantern Theatre is an intimate, family-run venue at the heart of Liverpool's creative district, the Baltic Triangle. Located in an old converted warehouse on the edge of Liverpool One, it provides the perfect setting for unique, ground-breaking theatre in Liverpool.
Founded in 2009 by Tiny Giants Productions, the Lantern has been run by mother/daughter duo Margaret Connell and Siobhan Noble since 2011. Their vision is to support local artists and performers and showcase emerging talent, particularly those looking for their first professional platform.
Since they successfully took the reins, The Lantern has become an established member of the Liverpool theatre scene and the shows here are as diverse as they are wonderful — as you would expect at a fringe theatre venue. The annual Shiny New Theatre Festival showcases pre-Edinburgh performances and The Lantern's resident theatre company, the New Leaf Theatre Ensemble, provides weekly acting training for adults of all ages and abilities.
Tickets can be bought online or on the door, and the drinks are reasonably priced at the bar — perfect for pre- or post-show drinks. Keep an eye on our event listings to find out what's on at The Lantern Theatre and other theatre venues in Liverpool. [Laura Maclean]
