Sitting in the middle of Seel Street and Hardman Street – just a hop, skip and a jump away from the chains that flood nearby Liverpool One – Root Coffee is the newest independent coffee shop retreat for citydwellers.
As expected, these guys know their coffee; just one look at the extensive menu will have your tastebuds tingling, and the latte art is a sure contender for the best in the city. There’s the usual espresso-based drinks, plus a delicious selection of loose leaf teas, hot chocolates and speciality drinks (don’t leave without trying a caramel crunch cappuccino – you can thank us later), and for the coffee aficionados there’s the V60 menu for the finest coffee-drinking experience. There’s also a small daily food menu on offer, as well as a tempting selection of cakes and pastries to complement your cup of joe.
Inside you’ll find simple, dark wood furnishings against painted black walls that juxtapose against clean-cut white metro tiles, and a small outdoor seating area for those rare sunny days.
It’s a freelancer’s heaven; there’s no shortage of power points, which means you can tap away at your laptop until your heart’s content, and the soothing, just-the-right-volume soundtrack will be sure to get your creative juices flowing, whatever time of day.
Its welcoming vibe and chilled-out atmosphere makes Root Coffee the perfect spot to grab a seat by the window and watch the day go by over expertly executed flat white, or a worthy makeshift office space to cram in those extra hours over umpteen espressos.
