Located on Liverpool’s Roscoe Street in the heart of the historic Georgian Quarter, The Grapes is steeped in its own historical splendour with the building dating back to the 1700s. A charming, welcoming drinking hole, The Grapes — which prides itself on being “everyone’s local” — has a higgledy-piggledy feel to it as the seating works its way around the bar. You’ll also find a fair bit of Beatles memorabilia here too — this pub was one of their favourite hangouts. A hidden beer garden out back provides a cosy space for a pint in the summer months. Attracting a mixed, bohemian crowd, the pub also appeals to real drinking connoisseurs. If nine different ales and 15 varieties of gin weren’t enough, The Grapes boasts a stonking variety of 30 different rums. They have more recently introduced a menu of restaurant quality Thai and Lao food available at pub prices. There is also live music every Thursday and a Jazz band every Sunday, all for free.

The Grapes was named one of the best pubs in the North West in The Skinny Food and Drink Survey 2015. Check out the other winners as voted for by The Skinny readers, and read our insight into the best pubs here.
