The Walker Art Gallery is an art gallery in Liverpool. It's home to one of the finest art collections in Europe, including beautiful paintings, sculptures and decorative art from the 13th century to the present day. Many of the gallery's most important works have been on display in the city for more than 200 years and as the national gallery of the north, it's also one of the must-visit art galleries in the UK. Home to many prized Pre-Raphaelite and Victorian paintings, it also holds more contemporary works from the likes of Hockney and Freud, and stages internationally renowned touring exhibitions regularly.

You'll find the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool on William Brown Street, just down the road from Liverpool Lime Street station and the Liverpool Empire. It's fairly easy to get to by car, with pay and display parking outside the gallery as well as behind the World Museum on Hunter Street.

If you enjoy your visit to the Walker Art Gallery, make sure you check out some of the other free art galleries in Liverpool, including Tate Liverpool and Sudley House.

Entry is free and the gallery is open every day of the year apart from 25 Dec, 26 Dec and 1 Jan. [Laura Maclean]
