When the Leeds Tetley Brewery closed down in 2011, there was a panic that the old headquarters, which had stood since 1822, would be torn down and become another lost relic of Leeds’ heritage. Fortunately, having undergone a comprehensive refurbishment, the Tetley reopened as an art gallery run by visual arts charity Project Space Leeds in 2013.
One of the most recent additions to Leeds’s cultural landscape, The Tetley is under ten minutes away from the train station, situated just south of the city centre. Not only are there showcases of local and international talent from the arts world, there is also a wide range of workshops and events that take place throughout the year .
Also worth mentioning is the classy bar and kitchen, serving (perhaps slightly pricey) locally sourced food and drink all day. While a recent development, the Tetley feels like it has been a part of the city for years, no doubt thanks to its restored art deco features and the local talent of PSL.
