In 2010, a group of green-fingered locals transformed a derelict part of Glasgow into an al fresco community centre. Now, a third of the garden sprouts an array of veggies, fruits and herbs which are cultivated and shared by members of the community. The rest of the space is kept for springtime schmoozing and cultural activities, such as their ongoing Bio-diverse project which aims to reconnect people to nature. The community garden also supports a weekly community cafe; taking place every Monday and providing a friendly source of support and free, healthy, vegetarian food for those who need it.
Hey, green fingers: fancy getting your gardening gloves on? Pop over to a communal gardening session on a Wednesday or Sunday, or have a look at the many social and cultural events listed on their website. Do us a favour though, eh? Save us some spuds for the heads up!
