We are living in pretty crazy times. As a result, we're pretty crazy people, and we're only being encouraged. A stroll through the West End these days means regularly swerving A-Boards that boast about new menu amendments: Oat milk! Gluten free sandwiches! Vegan pizza! You want a gluten free bagel with vegan cream cheese? We could tell you like five places nearby that'll do that for you.
There's a different kind of choice on offer at Woodlands' latest addition Finsbay Flatiron though: steak – take it or leave it. There's something refreshingly confident about a menu where you literally could not eat a meal's worth of food without going for the thing they do best. Their brief menu gives you a chance to customise your steak with a sauce: béarnaise, chipotle, peppercorn or garlic butter. Sides include coleslaw, chips, haggis bon bons and macaroni cheese.
Sure, you could muck about with those side dishes and try to create a small plates situation for yourself, but what's the point? It's a steak restaurant, and a really good one at that, so you should probably have steak (£8 Mon-Thurs and £10 at the weekends).
