Despite numerous closure scares, The Halt Bar remains one of the comfiest pubs in Glasgow's West-End, and is ideal for taking shelter from winter blizzards, coping with mid-semester hangovers, and gentle outdoor boozing on a summer’s day. The old-style Glasgow interiors, decent prices, and the resident hoard of dogs make it a difficult place to leave once inside. Unfortunately you’ll have to at some point as you won't find a food menu here.
In recent times, it’s fair to say Halt’s neighbouring Halt 2 has let its live music reputation slide a little, having shied away from the punk, hardcore and noise antics of yesteryear. Having said that, it still hosts a number of more intimate affairs, as well as occasional stand up nights, and both bars still regularly feature some very competent DJing indeed, banging out everything from Blues to Sabbath Worship to Chicago House.
