Asking to quantify the number of great eateries down on Leith's Shore is a little like asking the length of a ball of string. And yet, are we complaining? Are we heck!

One of the younger additions making its mark on Edinburgh's waterfront is Finn & Bear, brought to you by the same team that introduced the much-loved Stockbridge and Colinton staple, The Pantry. If their opening year is anything to go by, Finn & Bear promises to keep up its elder sibling's reputation for dishing out great food, punchy drinks and happy vibes all day long.

Part of Finn & Bear's appeal comes from its winning waterfront location. During the summer months, those double doors open up like a big fuzzy bear offering you a hug. Whether you manage to bag a spot on the outdoor terrace or on one of the deep squishy sofas inside, it's the kind of place which could hook you in from early doors to the late hours.

Start the day right with one of their belly-pleasin' brekkies, served from 10am-12pm. With characterful names like Pimp My Fry (full cooked breakfast), Ferrero Podger (porridge with house made hazelnut and peanut granola) and Sunshine on Leith (a nice veggie creation), knowing where to start might be the only challenge. Or, you could tuck into a hearty lunch; from bustling burgers to pan-roasted pigeon and sharing platters that offer up charred octopus, baked cheeses and Uist white crab, these guys have got you covered. Evenings will also slide by nicely with creative cocktails and bar snacks aplenty.
