With an attitude similar to London's pop-up markets, The Pitt is fast becoming one of Edinburgh's most talked about gathering spots.

Every Saturday and Sunday, a holding area on an industrial backstreet of Leith opens up to host a bustling street food market, bringing with it a steady stream of ravenous hipster types and a rotating network of over 40 food vendors from across Scotland.

Decent weather can't exactly be promised, but there's still plenty to warm the old cockles, from the roaring open fire pits to the barry bevvies, courtesy of Barney's Beer, Smith & Gertrude and Solid Liquids. The ambience too is sure to hug the soul, with a laidback and inclusive vibe (dugs are welcome – nay, encouraged! – as well as children, before 8pm), tempered by the background sounds of local musicians.

It's not just local Leithers who have been feeling the love, either. Every year, we ask our readers to vote for their favourite places to eat and drink in our annual Food & Drink Survey. The Pitt has climbed the ranks and earned itself a spot in the Best Street Food and Takeaways category in our 2018 Food and Drink Survey, along with the likes of Bross Bagels and Los Cardos. You guys are lovin' those market vibes.
