Paxton House

In 1988 Paxton House was gifted to the nation by the last laird of Paxton, John David Home Robertson. Inside the house itself is one of the UK’s foremost collections of Chippendale and William Trotter furniture, as well as works of art loaned from the National Galleries of Scotland. Paxton Trust now wants to encourage the appreciation and enjoyment of the Paxton collection, its country house and its 80 acre estate. There’s a range of indoor and outdoor activities to keep children entertained, from bat walks to arts and craft workshops, and walks, photography workshops and masquerade balls for the adults. The best way to reach Paxton House has got to be by rail. The route to Berwick Upon Tweed is one of the most beautiful parts of the East Coast Mainline – and Paxton House is just three miles from the station.
