The Hope Inn

Whilst its exterior may call to mind a small, haunted school, and its signage and location may lead you to believe it’s little more than a standard out-of-town boozer, The Hope Inn is an inviting brewhouse pub, that serves an excellent selection of beers. Stepping inside feels much like entering your meticulously neat Nanna’s home: not much here looks to have changed over the years, and you sort of want to replicate it in your own living room. Sort of. Voted CAMRA’s pub of the year in 2014, expect to find many of your favourite craft tipples, at much lower prices than many city centre locations, as well as the Hope’s own Fool Hardy ales (brewed in-house). Clientele tend to veer towards the free-bus pass age, so don’t expect to mingle with any hipsters. Food limits itself to large (and tasty) pork pies.
