The Liverpool Playhouse is one of the oldest and most prestigious theatres in Liverpool. It opened in 1866 as a music hall and since then has become one of the best-loved theatre venues in Liverpool. Over the years it's nurtured many actors and actresses who have gone on to achieve national and international success and in 2000 it joined forces with the Everyman Theatre to form the Liverpool and Merseyside Theatres Trust.
The Playhouse has three bars stalls, dress circle and gallery — and pre-show drinks are available 45 minutes before the curtain goes up. Our top tip is to pre-order your interval drinks before the show starts to avoid the queues. If you're looking for somewhere to eat before the show, the theatre has a great partnership with Bistro Bierre which offers a great value and delicious pre-theatre menu.
Located in Williamson Square at the heart of Liverpool city centre, beneath the Radio City tower, the Playhouse is easily reachable by car, bus or train. Put the postcode L1 1EL in your sat nav to find the Playhouse by car. Cheap parking near the Playhouse is available at Queen Square Car Park and costs just £2 when you present your theatre ticket at the security desk. If you're coming by train, the Playhouse is a five minute walk from Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central.
