Originally called Crane’s Music Hall when it opened in 1913, Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre was renamed after the Beatles manager Brian Epstein in 1997. Despite multiple closures and name changes throughout its history, the theatre remains much loved throughout the city, and is a prime location for small theatre productions, upcoming stand up comedy stars and live music. It was reopened in 2012 following a £1.2 million refurbishment, but despite the refit the theatre still contains its striking original decor and traditional interior throughout the Grade II listed building. You’ll see anything from touring theatre shows and their own in-house productions to musicals and pantomimes. Since reopening the theatre has dedicated itself to showcasing more musical talent (in keeping with the Epstein legacy) so you’ll often find local bands performing there as well as the occasional touring act. Opening times vary depending on the event so check our listings for more information. [Charlotte Davies]
