There’s more than a few restaurants jumping on board the street food trend nowadays, but Mowgli — located on Liverpool's bustling Bold Street — is easily one of the more authentic ones around.
The restaurant’s inventive Indian dishes are designed by owner, writer and self-proclaimed ‘curry evangelist’ Nisha Katona, and were all inspired by her mother’s homecooked food. Their student friendly menu features authentic Indian dishes combined with some of Katona’s own creations, including ‘chat bombs’ — crisp bread puffs filled with chickpeas and yoghurt.
This place is a plate-free zone with all dishes served in metal tiffin boxes — just like you’d get with the real thing in India. If you can’t choose one dish, try one of their tiffin boxes for one — it’s a game of food roulette where the chef chooses a number of items that vary every time.
There’s a no bookings policy at this place, so get there early if you want a table.
