Maguire's Pizza Bar on Renshaw Street is one of the most original venues in Liverpool. It's where pizza meets punk rock and although it may look a little mismatched with its black and white checkered floor, old furniture and framed picture frame of David Hasselhoff on the bar, who's complaining when you can get a slice of delicious stone-cooked pizza and a can of cider for £3.50?
If you're tunnelling your way to someone's heart via the medium of mozzarella, head down on a Friday for a deal on five slices of pizza, doughballs and a bottle of wine for fifteen smackers. Even the veggies and vegans will have a grand old time tucking into all manner of non-meat and fake-meat options — quite the novelty. No wonder it's one of the best places to get pizza in Liverpool.
Ever supportive of the local music scene, the bar hosts regular gig nights in its back room. The space is free to hire for gigs and shows (with a £50 deposit) — just give Helen a call on 07793675577 to ask about putting on a gig at Maguire's. For pizza orders and anything else, give them a call on 07535 090636.
Just remember that when you do visit, it's cash only. But don't worry if you're caught short — turn left out of Maguire's Pizza Bar and there's a cash point just up the road at Sainsbury's. [Laura Maclean]
