District House is a restaurant and event space in the heart of the up-and-coming financial district. Previously Newz Bar and then Amanzi, the opulent venue located on Water Street has had a makeover and has been transformed into a multi-functioning venue that’s perfect for everything from business meetings to Sunday brunch with the family.
It’s a massive venue that holds up to 600 people, so it’s no surprise that there are plenty of events in the pipeline – there’s already been a ‘Rise and Shine’ event, dubbed as the healthy alternative to drinking and partying, as well as a Full Moon party with live bongo and saxophone players, plus regular yoga hostings.
Inside you’ll find chic, white-washed walls and palm tree prints set against wooden walls with large mirrors and plenty of greenery, giving the place a light and airy feel by day and a sultry, island-like vibe when the sun goes down.
With three menus to choose from – brunch, lunch and evening – you can expect to find breakfast staples like eggs Benedict, omelettes and pancakes, which start at a respectable £4. The lunch menu offers a selection of small plates, salads and hot ciabatta sandwiches, with a meal deal option to choose one of the main plates, such as king prawn linguine, with a soft drink for a tenner. The evening menu offers contemporary European cuisines with dishes starting at £9 and an 8oz fillet steak at £23 as the most expensive thing on the menu.
There’s also a good cocktail selection on offer for £8.50 a pop, as well as beers, wines and premium spirits, plus artisan coffee from local roasters Neighbourhood and local loose-leaf teas from Phom.
