Tequila, tequila, tequila: three words to perfectly sum up 23 Fleet Street, a punchy, Mexican-style cantina in Liverpool’s Ropewalks area. Like it or loathe it, here you’ll find 116 different varieties of the stuff, along with a rather extensive cocktail menu for you to whet your whistle on any night of the week.
Inside you’ll see exposed brick walls, intracite Spanish tiling and Frida Kahlo – lots of Frida Kahlo. We particularly love the hand-painted wall mural in the downstairs basement bar, in homage to the bar’s muse and Mexico’s most-loved artist.
Get selected cocktails for £5 on 'Cinco de Drinko' weekdays, two-for-one margaritas and largeritas (a margarita and larger cocktail) on Sundays, and late night ‘midnight mass’ sessions with UBER cabs, where you can get a free taxi ride up to the value of £15. If that’s not enough to entice you, there are monthly tequila tasting sessions on the last Thursday of every month, urging you to sip, not shoot, to help you overcome your tequila fears.
With neighbours such as Motel and Kiss Kitty’s, the addition of 23 Fleet Street makes it safe to say the dog days are over for the once derelict Fleet Street.
