Who remembers nights in the swelteringly hot but absolutely brilliant Heebie Jeebies basement? Well, people of Liverpool, Saturday nights are about to get a whole lot better because the basement is back under a new name: EBGBS.
Proclaimed as the bridge between a bar and a club by its owners – the same team behind Heebies, The Jacaranda and Jacaranda Records – this 250-year-old cellar is the type of place you can dance until the early morn or brood over a whiskey on the rocks, depending on what you fancy.
The club room will host all sorts of nights including the longest-running alternative/indie night Liquidation (previously in the beloved Le Bateau, which sadly is no more). There'll also be different performers each night including vogue dancers, fire breathers and rollerskaters. But if you're a less-is-more kind of drinker, head to The Lone Wolf Bar – it's a gritty, biker-inspired underground haven where you can grab a bottle of beer (or a cocktail) for a few quid and chill out away from the chaos of the clubroom. The ceilings are low and it's dark and dingy, with skulls and grungry neon signs scattered around to give the room the sort of red light look you'd expect to find in an NYC dive bar.
There'll be live music events here too – Manchester band Cabbage play in February, so keep your eye on our events page for other events like this.
