FACT is a fantastic multi-arts venue on Wood Street in Liverpool. Its name stands for the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology and with a cafe, a bar, three galleries and a four-screen cinema, it truly has something for everyone. It has a unique programme of exhibitions, films and art projects as well as the beautiful Garden @ FACT Cafe, run by the team behind Leaf on Bold Street, and aims to make arts and technology accessible to everyone in the community.
Picturehouse at FACT offers the best in independent and mainstream film and ticket prices are fairly reasonable — particularly if you're eligible for a concession. Sign up for student membership and you'll get student cinema tickets at FACT for just £5. The Silver Screen club offers free membership for the over-60s, with £5 entry and free tea, coffee and biscuits before the film. Membership for the kids' club is £4 a year, with the first screening free. (Keep your fingers crossed that your film is in The Box as this screen has sofas!)
There are four exhibitions a year so make sure you pop in every now and again to see what's new. Conveniently located just off Bold Street, it's really easy to get to from Liverpool Lime Street or Liverpool Central. And if you're coming by car, you'll find pay and display parking along nearby Renshaw Street and Oldham Street.
