Outlaws Yacht Club is a continental café-bar, taking the laid-back ethos of European wining and dining and using it as the foundations for an offbeat, multi-purpose creative hangout tucked away on
By day, comfy sofas and worn board games (and Lego!) keep things relaxed as you sip on Outlaws’ own blend espresso roasted by North Star coffee, while food-wise things are kept simple and tasty with sandwiches and sharing boards, capitalising well on charcuterie meats from the Greedy Little Pig farm in Holmforth and local cheeses, chutneys, breads, pork pies and pickles.
But the main draw comes from a solid calendar of events, unique in its ability to pair exciting, high profile names with a relaxed and informal setting. That's is no small part thanks to the venue’s inimitably discerning tastebuds for the best in understated electronica, Balearic, house, techno and downtempo, with past DJs including Andrew Weatherall, Justin Robertson, A Man Called Adam, Nightmares on Wax, Tiago, Moonboots, Phil Mison, Taxo & Abel, Jan Schulte, Vidal Benjamin, Ruf Dug, Alexis Le Tan and Tropical Jeremy.
You’ll also find regular book clubs, poetry readings, film clubs and art exhibitions, plus Q&As that have in the past welcomed the likes of reggae musician and filmmaker Don Letts, The Slits’ Viv Albertine, The Specials bassist Horace Panter, Hacienda stalwart Dave Haslam, Creation Records’ Alan McGee, Irvine Welsh and Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe.
