Toni’s Pizzeria in Giffnock is a reliable pizza and pasta joint, which attracts a steady stream of locals. Friendly staff and a real sense of place make Toni’s a particularly inviting takeaway option on a cold, dark evening, with its twinkly glowing lights and well stocked deli counter.
It has slotted in very well in this suburban, family location, with customers enjoying a menu of pasta favourites and create-your-own pizza. Limited seating means it’s really more of a takeaway and delivery place than a sit-down restaurant.
The same is true of their West End branch on Gibson Street, which has picked up a similarly loyal crowd, with a few menu tweaks possibly designed for the student market. Weekly deals from Monday through to Wednesday give you a pretty good crack at the menu at a fraction of the price.
The pizza is seriously good, cooked up in the Neapolitan style with large bubbly crusts and a thin crunchy base. If you live in the delivery zone, you really should make use of it, even if just to try their famous Breakfast Pizza (topped with sausage, bacon, mushrooms, eggs, black pudding and red onion) which is an unsurprisingly popular weekend choice – a fabled hangover cure among Woodlands residents.
